Er... Not quite. You just see the text for that item. Multiple text is handled differently. Wait and see - it will make sense, I promise.

2) Have two "modes", toggled via the toolbar: "Show groups as folders" and "Show groups as text". With the first option selected, everything would work pretty much as it does now. The only difference would be that whenever creating a document, it would always be a text document. It would only turn into a folder once you added a subdocument to it. In the "as text" mode, groups would look like stacks of paper in the outline view, and would display text when you clicked on them. This way, you would not have to make decisions in advance about whether or not an item is a group or a text document - but you could if you wanted. Keith This option sounds like an excellent idea. I think it bridges the various users needs nicely. I can see myself using both, but primarily the outlining function. (I voted for the outliner function above). I currently own and switch between OmniOutliner, TAO, Nisus, Notetaker, Ulysses and Word. I am currently using JeditX as my default writing app because of the split windows and basic "outlining" ability as well as it's default rtf format for files. None of them do all I need, however, Scrivener seems to have it all in one package. I look forward to whatever solution is implemented.

Thanks for the feedback. It's interesting that the vote is 50/50 - I hope my solution satisfies both camps. Note that my decision is that there will still be a distinction between files and folders (a slight alteration to 2) ), but that you will be able to convert between them by a mouse-click in the toolbar or via a keyboard shortcut (so that you are not locked into either)... In practice, it should work for everyone. Anyway, back to development - there is *loads* to do before the next version (though the most major player in the time-scale of the next release is probably my week-old daughter ). All the best, Keith

Hey, congrats I was just going to ask you about your release plans for the next beta. So I guess the answer will be "later this year" Nice coincidence: the developer of HBN/Mori, the program we discussed in this thread, announced the birth of his daughter a few weeks ago. You should join forces and start an alt.programming.plus.parenting newsgroup ...

Hi Keith. Congratulations. And enjoy the time with your daughter - when it´s gone, it´ll never come back. Though you can say that about any time with children . Franz
