Hello, If there are any beta-testers out there who have bought an Intel iMac, or who will definitely be buying a MacBook Pro in February, I would be very grateful if you could let me know. I have had no opportunity to try out Scrivener on an Intel Mac, so would be very grateful for anyone who can help me test it (I won't be able to buy an Intel Mac myself for a little while, funds being what they are). If you *do* have an Intel Mac and are willing to test, I will build a Universal Binary of Scrivener (ie. a different build to the current version - universal binaries should work on both Intel and PPC, whereas the current build would have to run via Rosetta, the PPC emulator, on an Intel Mac) and send it to you. I probably won't do this until the next version (0.3b) in a couple of months, but would be very grateful for anyone who can sign up in advance to test this out. You must be a regular user of Scrivener and willing to put it rigourously through its paces on your Intel Mac. There'll be a free copy of Scrivener for the person who can give me the most feedback on how it runs. Many thanks in advance, Keith

I will be purchasing a MacBook Pro in February. The only problem is whether they are shipping them on Feb 1st, or Feb 28th. I'll let you know here as soon as I get it!

That makes two of us ... MacBook Pro in February.
[update]
Keith informed me of the rumors for a 12"/17" March release, which would coincide with the Universal release of the Final Cut Pro suite. So I may wait until then.

Oh, where is the green-faced smiley when you need it? I'm ever so jealous...
I will be getting one of these at some point, but not so quickly - might make it a birthday present to myself which would put it around June.

I've ordered my MacBook Pro, but Amazon says it isn't shipping till April, so I probably won't be of much use to you. Sorry. Elizabeth

There's obviously a lot of demand. I'm sure the beta will be running further than April given that the next version is not likely to be out for a month or so (there will be a re-release of the current beta with an extended expriy period before that, most likely), so you could still be very useful. Of course, I am hoping that a 12" MacBook will be out soon, in which case I will pounce on it and test it myself...

Okay — when it arrives, I'll let you know. My dad, who treats Macs like a religion, says the rumor sites are now flying about the MacBook shipping already. People keep posting their credit cards are being charged, etc. (Now, he also argues that spring begins with baseball spring training and we should be hearing about those 12" MacBooks any day now)

Update on my MacBook Pro:
We reordered it from Apple directly and I expect to get it at the beginning of April, if not sooner. Again, Keith, as soon as it is in my hands, I will let you know.

How about now? It is currently right in front of me and I am in fact using it at the moment. I am minutes away from downloading the extended beta version. I will report any immediate discoveries.

Thanks. The extended beta isn't a universal beta, so it should run on Rosetta. When the next beta is ready, I will build a separate Universal Binary for you to test on the MacBook.
Thanks again, Keith (very jealous of your new MacBook)

Will do. When the next beta is ready, I will post a Universal Binary version here for testing by Intel users. That should be (hopefully) towards the end of April. Thanks, Keith
