When in binder mode, and using the latest beta, I keep having massive black borders around the index card and the info pain on the right of the screen.
The borders begin OK, but immediately begin redrawing themselves till I have massive black blobs.
I have a screenie, but don't know how to attavh it here ;D
I use the latest Tiger version on a 1.83 PPC Powerbook.

This sounds very strange - I have never seen anything like this. You can send the screenshot to scrivener_beta@yahoo.co.uk.
The next beta is pretty much a complete re-implementation of Scrivener, so hopefully the problem will already have been eradicated anyway, but I would like to check it out all the same. I would also appreciate more details - is this in Binder mode? In what circumstances does the strange redrawing arise? How can I recreate it?
Many thanks, Keith

I've seen this one too, and it seemed too random to reproduce, but I think I've figured it out - If the Scrivener window is as wide as the screen (doesn't need to be as long) then everything on the right side, index card and notes/info redraws with a progressively thicker black border.
All you need to do is make it a few pixels narrower and it stops doing that. You can use the green maximise (or zoom, or whatever it's called) window button to get it to the width that creates this behavior.
I also have a Powerbook and the latest Tiger. I use two screens. I can send a screen shot if you want.
I hope this is a clear explanation,
Vickie

Thanks. This is weird. I cannot reproduce this at all. I wonder if it is a PowerBook thing, but that is highly unlikely. The strange thing is that there is very little drawing done in those areas - and barely any custom drawing done by me. If anyone can find exact steps to reproduce this every time (on other machines?), I would be very grateful. Until then, I think we'll wait for the next beta, which is a rewrite, so I am hoping the problem will disappear along with it. All the same, it would be good to find out what is causing this, so if anyone does have any more information, that would be great. Thanks, Keith

Try this to reproduce.
1. Open a Scrivener file (preferably one with a few documents in it). 2. press green zoom/maximise button 3. Enlarge central section (writing section) sliding to the left, so that its left margin covers the 't' on the end of the word Draft. 4. click in the writing section and start to type.
The borders on the note card and notes/info on my setup start to thicken. You may need to have long documents, ones with scroll bars in them.
I found today that if I made my central section smaller, the border problem stopped and disappeared. It almost looks like the problem is with the automatic resizing of the note card, possibly hitting the notes/info section.

Wow... Okay, thanks, I have reproduced it. It's a baffling one. I cut out all the index card drawing code to see if that was causing it, but the same thing still happened around the notes area. The strange thing about this is that the notes section only uses standard Apple controls, so it seems to be a bug outside of my code that my particular set up has brought up. That said, the next beta so far seems not to suffer the same problem, so, fingers crossed... I will continue to look into it, though. Many thanks for isolating it. All the best, Keith
