Okay,
I hope I'm not repeating anyone here. I looked around and didn't see a similar thread, but I've been kind of caught up in the Penn State / Illinois basketball game, so I might have missed it.
Mac is set to release a bunch of new iBooks / Powerbooks like the one they released here recently using the new Intel chip. My question is, for those of us considering getting one, will Scrivener be able to run on it? I know the translator will work for some programs and not for others. I just wondered if you knew what the case would be for Scrivener.
Thanks, Elizabeth

Hi, If you check out the "Announcements" forum, you will see that I am looking for beta testers who have the new Intel machines. I have no access to an Intel machine (as an independent developer I can't afford to join the Apple developer pre-release programme), so Scrivener has yet to be tested one. I can build it as a Universal Binary (the type of binary required to run on both PCC and Intel) from here, but I will need someone with an Intel machine to test it. As soon as they release a 12" laptop with an Intel chip, I will probably get one, but until then there's no way I can justify the expense, so I have to rely on my beta-testers. Either way, I don't expect there to be too many problems in getting Scrivener to run on an Intel machine, as there is no tricksy low-level code involved that would trip it up. It will probably just be few annoying-to-find code fixes. And I intend to ensure that Scrivener will be a Universal Binary running on both architectures before a commercial release. So, if you are getting an Intel machine, please let me know once you get it and I will send you a Universal Binary of Scrivener to test out. There may be some more tricksly things I would need an Intel beta-tester to do, but if that were the case, there would be a free copy in it. Cheers, Keith
