Does this count as a bug? Er, probably not as such, but it might be a source of confusion.
When the beta first runs, it says (possibly paraphrasing here):
Now, since the day is out of the range of any month it is obvious that this is a UK format date, but other times it may not be obvious:
Speaking as an ex-pat Brit, I have taken to writing dates as dd-mmm-yyyy, so it's consumable by anyone English speaking. Eg:
... although something that plugs into the localisation options in OS X would be better still of course.
I apologise for the astoundingly picky nature of this opening remark.

Well, I have to admit that Scrivener is rather "British" in its spellings... I'll change that to something less confusing, although that popup dialogue is only a beta-thing so it's not a major concern. More important are the date formats in the Snapshots, modified date and daily word count tables. I need to look into localizing these... Anyway, thanks for feedback. Keith EDIT: Oops, I say that Scrivener is "British" in its spellings and then spell "localising" the American way...

Oh, I don't mind British spellings - I have been resisting American vocabulary and spelling for over four years now - I just wanted to raise the date format issue so it didn't get lost.
Thanks for the prompt reply. It's a really good tool which seems a lot more comfortable to me after a ten minute browse though the tutorial than any of the other writing tools I've played with on OS X. As I say I am only sorry at this point that I am making picky UI comments instead of something more substantive.
