It works perfectly, and a lot faster than in my former G5, but there are two small problems. - When working in Binder mode, the index card's shadow gets redrawn endlessly, becoming a dark black square. It happens only when the cursor is idle within the tex editing are.
- When working in Full Screen, the font seems a bit to dark, as if I had selected boldface instead of the regular face.
Besides these two little problems, Scrivener Gold is working beautifuly in my new MBP.

Thanks. The border-redrawing thing is a known bug. It seems to be caused by the inspector area's automatic resizing (probably trying to draw the shadow too many times). Another user posted how to recreate it and also how to work around it here: scrivener.proboards58.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1142199161In the next version, the app takes more control of automatic resizing, and also the inspector is a little different, without all the borders, so hopefully this shouldn't be a problem in 1.0. (Certainly the problem disappeared in the never-released 0.3b.) The good news is that I am now developing on a MacBook, so all future versions will be Universal Binaries that are tested first on an Intel machine. All the best, Keith

Keith, Thank you for the prompt reply. The workaround works. How about the font in full screen?

Hmm, not sure about the font in full screen. I have a feeling it is probably just to do with the different screen resolution and the impression of the text against a different coloured text against a dark background in this situation; it's certainly nothing that Scrivener is doing. Looking at it on my MacBook, I kind of see what you mean, but it's just a difference in displays between this machine and my iBook...

That's what I tought at the beginning, but when I load MS Word, and use exactly the same combination of blue backround and white font, the font in Word seems truer to the weight.

Could you post a screenshot? Thanks.

I was able to capture the screen from MS Word, but I can't do the same with Scrivener. Nevertheless, you can certainly reproduce the text (Verdana, 12 pt, 200%) in Scrivener. The blue in the background is the color you get in Word.

I still can't see any issue... Presumably there is a marked difference between bold text and normal text in full screen, too? Word uses its own text rendering system, whereas Scrivener uses OS X's default, so there may well be some differences. I really think this is just a difference in display. Scrivener does *nothing* to the text except change the colour. The Cocoa text system is actually currently unable to change any other attributes temporarily in the way the colour is changed in this circumstance... Thanks, Keith

If MS Word uses its own redering system, that explains the whole difference. Thanks for your help, Keith.

If you are still concerned about it, one way you could be sure is to download the demo of another full screen app (eg. Devon Think, Avenir, CopyWrite, all of which use the default Cocoa text system just like Scrivener - note I haven't mentioned Ulysses because you can't zoom the text in Ulysses, you just make the font bigger, which may look different), give it the same settings (Verdana, zoom 200% etc) and see if you find exactly the same thing with one of those programs in full screen. All the best, Keith
