How often does the Auto-save work? Does it save after every change? Does "Auto-save binder on changes" mean that it saves ALL changed documents (which is what I think it means—just checking so I know how worried to be ? You might want to include an option to set a time between auto-saving, as MacJournal does (sorry to keep making comparisons to this app, but I've used it for a long time), especially since you note that performance may take a hit with large projects.

Actually performance won't take quite the hit that it did when I first implemented that option in preferences - it is pretty speedy now, even on a project with 200 docs. Auto-saving only saves the "binder" state - it doesn't save changes to text. In other words, it saves things like drag-and-dropping, or changes to document status or label, that sort of thing. If a text document's icon is grey, it is unsaved - you only know that it is saved when it turns white. A proper auto-save preferences feature is on the "to do" list at www.rumramruf.com/ScrivenerBeta/todo.html. That will work by saving all unsaved documents every n minutes. In the meantime, hit Cmd-shift-S to save all, or Cmd-S to save the one you are working on. If you close a project, or the app, with unsaved documents, you will be prompted to save. Thanks, Keith

Oops, sorry I missed that on the list. But I would say a proper auto-save should be a top priority. Even better would be automatic saving, where Scrivener would save any changes automatically after a few seconds pause (as it's implemented in CopyWrite, for example), with the option to adjust the delay. I'm pretty good about being in the habit of saving my work as I go, but I'd hate for someone to become absorbed in their NaNoWriMo novel and lose their work.

I'll try to make auto-save a higher priority. Actually, I tried the CopyWrite approach when I first started writing the app, but there was just something about it I didn't like. I guess I just like manually saving my work. If the program saves it for me, I get worried about making mistakes, even though I know undo is there... Note, though, that CopyWrite gets very slow on long documents, probably because of the auto-save feature... Thanks, KB
