A very minor interface point: I think it would be better to be consistent in the way you change Labels and Status. Either both should be changed from a menu or both should be changed in the Preferences. Also, I don't think Status should apply to all projects. I think there should be a default and each project could have different settings. As you add more features, it's going to be confusing to remember where everything gets changed. Just a thought...

The thinking here was that labels are project-specific but that status is not... I'll think about this. Thanks, Keith

Good to see a thread already started on this. I have some issues with the current set-up too. Primarily, I disagree, on Status being a global preference. In other editors, I quite often have drastically different status tags for different projects. A collection of short stories, for instance, might require different treatment than a novel, or a collection of articles for web publication. Syncronised is a nice status for the latter, but is meaningless for a novel.
On related issue, just a minor thing, I think the label customisation dialogue should display the colour chip right next to the label, so you don't have to click and hunt for something you have associated with a colour, but might not be familiar with the specific text.
It might also be nice to allow re-ordering of both Status and Labels.

Maybe I'll change it so that Status is a per-project option that defaults to your last setting, with the option to return to default. Then everybody wins. I'll put re-ordering of status and label items on the "to do" list, as I can see it would be useful for putting all of your major characters at the top of a "POV" label list, for example. Though at this rate the release date is going to be sometime in 2009...
