I think it's absolutely essential that Scrivener have an automatic back up feature. I know things are storied in packages, but it would provide another level of protection. Most similar apps have this functionality.

What sort of thing did you have in mind?

viJournal (http://freespace.virgin.net/jeremy.dronfield/skoobysoft/skoobysoft.html) has a preference that lets you set a backup folder for the file. When you quit it will save a copy to that folder automatically, or ask you if you want to (depending on the preference that has been set).
Something like this would let you backup the project to an external or network drive.

In MacJournal you can set a preference to backup every x days. In CopyWrite, you can create a backup manually on quit. You set the backup the location in the preferences. Any of these methods would be fine.

All right, added to the "to do" list (which is now as big as Asia). It won't be high-priority for the beta, though - beta testers should back up regularly anyway. I'll get it in there before release, though.

Sounds good. Auto-saving changes is more important than a backup, since most people have their own backup routines. But it's another level of protection.
