Hi!
Well, I've been busy working with the newest iteration and mostly like it a great deal. One thing that really bugs me, though, is the intercept that now comes up before the app loads asking me what I want to do.
I really liked how the earlier version loaded lightning-fast, and then you could go to the file menu and figure out what you actually wanted to do *when you got around to it*. Maybe I'm more distracted than other writers, but I'm often in the middle of opening one thing when a child comes by and needs me to find something else, or a prof asks us to retrieve something, etc. etc. etc. ... the old way was just a lot more suitable to my workflow.
Plus, on the creepy-downside, I find this intercept of 'what would you like to do before continuing' gives me bad flashbacks of M$ products. ;-)
Could this be set as a preference so the user can decide what suits the user best? :-) Thanks for considering it!
Cheers, Annik

It sure can. I had already thought of this, but just haven't got around to adding it to the To Do list. Hopefully it will be added to the next beta. Also note that in another post I did ask for suggestions for a better way of saying "What do you want to do?", as I'm not a big fan of that phrase either. It's just in there as a placeholder until I think of something better... Thanks, Keith

Must agree with Annik. Ideal for me would be a preference that would let you a) set file x as the project to be opened by default, or b) automatically open the last project that was open, or c) display the current choices dialog.

BTW, if you absolutely must have some sort of intercept message, how about something clever and writer-ish? Or perhaps users could set their own? (I have visions of writers cribbing quotes from everything from That 70s Show to MP and the Holy Grail, as in: What are you working on today, dumbass? or, What is your favourite colour? Or get really funky and come up with a 'google' option ... I feel lucky! (Except call it something like "I feel inspired!" and let Scrivener pick something from the last few recently opened. Could be fun. ;-) On a more serious note, I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes a no-intercept option, and thanks again for considering this. BTW, Keith, I just finished Nano (second time player, first time winner) and really enjoyed using Scrivener throughout! Woo hoo!

The preference is done for the next version. I still have to make it prettier for those who like it, though... Thanks, Keith
