I thought about using a circle or a spherical base, but decided against it because I thought perhaps it would end up looking too much like a regular yin-yang, and the subtle 'S' implication would get lost. But I did not try it, so there may be some variation that would work. I also gave some thought to extending the curve up out of the boundary of the square (or circle) to further accentuate the 'S'.
I might post something along those lines, later.
But yes, I will send the PSD file via email. At the moment, it is 100% paths and blending effects.

Thanks for the PSD. Yeah, I tried the circle too, and didn't like it either, after all. I thought of extending the S in a similar way to the Finder icon, or to the S in the Farscape logo (if anyone has ever seen that), but I quite like it as it is, too. I think the tablet-look is definitely cool.
I think the square yin-yan with quotes in some form could very well end up as the Scrivener icon. It says everything I want: black and white (as in text), quotes (as in writing), and yin-yan (wholeness). Nice.
Cheers, Keith

I am locking this thread because the icon has been finalised. It will be revealed properly in the next beta.
