Greetings,
I am new to this forum. I've been using Scrivener for a couple of weeks and I think it's great.
1. Until now, I've been using the program to write a novel but I'm a working journalist, too, so today I thought I'd use it to transcribe an interview.
I saved my guy's interview as a Quicktime file, imported it and opened it in the bottom pane of Compose. I started transcribing the interview in the top pane. This is better than using a combination of the QT player and Word because, in Scriv, you only have to make one mouse-click to stop and start the audio. (When you're using two programs for this task, you have to make one mouse-click to switch to QT from Word and then another click/keystroke to operate the player.)
However, when you want to start writing in the top pane, you have to click the mouse in the pane before you can start typing again.
Is there any way that certain keys can be made to operate the audio without leaving the pane that you're typing in?
Forgive me if this seems nit-picking but, if it were possible to offer this functionality, Scrivener could offer itself to a significant segment of the market beyond novelists. I'd buy it for that function alone, never mind its novel-writing strengths.
2. I note your request for ideas on how root folders might be organised for journalists and I'll have a play around with this in mind in the coming days.
Thanks for a great program.
Cheers,
John
