Right now, I can only do that through the 'File' menu - which is one of the less likely places to put that option. 'Edit' or 'Text' might be better choices.
Even better, enable editing through a second delayed click like finder does.

If I may follow up on myself - an ideal place for renaming would be the header on the index card. That's the first place I clicked on when I tried to rename one of my characters. It just makes sense(tm)

It's under "File" because that is where the same option appears in other Apple programs with the same option...
You can rename documents or folders by option-clicking, so you don't need to use a menu. This separates it from double-clicking, which is reserved for opening documents in a separate window. (The delayed click is a possibility, but actually *very* hard to implement correctly - I have added it to the list of things to look into, though I had a good crack at this before and was never happy with the results; it's something that a lot of Cocoa programmers ask about on lists but get no response...)
Thanks, KB

Dang - I always used the double click before, so I never looked for it in the menus. You're right, it lives under "File". How bizarre! On the other hand, I never knew about option click, so thanks for the hint.
