How do I add a web page to Scrivener? I tried dragging a page from the desktop, but I got an error message that the file couldn't be imported. I tried the contextual menu: Add > Web Page..., but nothing happens. Am I missing something?

What error message did you get? If the page is .html, .htm or .webarchive, it should work...
You're right, there's a bug with the contextual menu - I've just fixed that, so that will work in the next version. In the mean time you can go to File > Import Web Page. That will only work for importing web pages from the internet, though, not off your hard drive.

The file is a .webloc. I've tried to drag in a couple of files. This is the error message: The following files could not be imported: [path].

Right. .webloc files are not supported at the moment - to be honest, I haven't even heard of them. I'll look into it, but Scrivener only supports Apple's own Webview system, which makes it very easy to import html, htm and webarchive files, but I'm not sure about anything else. Thanks, Keith

For the record, the Action menu is broken too, just in case it is using different code than the context menu.
Some more observations:
- having imported a web page successfully, the context menu and Action menu items will import, but only reimport the last web page (with a numerical suffix to disambiguate)
- File > Import Web Page always imports a web page into "Research". I wanted to import several pages of character notes from a wiki instance on my machine into "People" (and some settings into "Places" but I haven't got there yet). So does the context menu, which seems even more surprising.
- on the File > Import Web Page dialog, why does it bother to remember the last items entered?
Some kind of bulk import would be nice too, but I'll post about that in Wish List.

This is fixed for the next beta. The "Actions" menu is identical to the context menu, so if one is broken, so is the other. It doesn't actually remember the last web page imported. What you are seeing is just the result of an oversight. I have two pieces of code, one which opens the dialogue and one which actually imports the page when you hit OK in the dialogue. The action in the context menu was just wired up to the wrong code, so it imported the last item, or beeped if nothing has already been imported. Like I say, it was easy to fix - just use the File menu item for now.
As for it importing into the research folder - er, yeah, dunno why I made that decision. I'll put it on the "to do" list (though the option will no longer appear when ctrl-clicking in the draft). KB

Another idea related to this one: I often make bookmarks on my desktop or in a folder by dragging the favicon from the address bar in Safari to the finder. This creates the .webloc file.
It would be neat to be able to drag the favicon straight into the research folder and have it fetch the webpage.

Will research this - I've put it on the "to do" list for now...
