,Problem: Cut and paste destroys text tables
Version; beta 0.1.1b
Severity: medium to high (if you need text tables).
(I can't find mention of this problem in the To Do List or in ay other posts.)
First things first, I am very pleased to see that Scrivener supports text tables within a text document. I discovered this by pasting in a selection copied from an Excel file (my Nano daily goals and count) and, hey presto, it was still a table.
The paste of Excel data gave me a four-column table. Things went bad when I decided to move some data around.
1)
- I selected the word in column 4, row 1 and then Cut it (Command-X).
- I then Pasted (Command-V) into column 3, row 4.
The result was to add a new cell with the word, on a new line, followed by another new cell/line. the new cells are not the same width as the existing cells.
(As well, the undo stack gets very confused at this point if you try to go back.)
Essentially, paste does not work properly. I am wondering if the program is selecting the word, or the word with its cell, or if there is a way to select one without the other
2)
When you choose Table... from the Text menu, it creates a 2 row by 3 column table and opens the Table dialog. You can click in the Rows box to change the number of rows, but if you then hit Tab, you are not moved to the Columns box, as you might expect. Instead the focus goes somewhere else, and the Table dialog shows 0 rows and 0 columns (in other words, no table is currently selected).
(A point about how tables seem to work: I cannot see anyway to select a column. For example, if you drag down on a column to select the contents, it selects all the following content, not just the column.)
I hope this is clear. it happens every time, so you should be able to reproduce it.
(By the way, I have had no luck reproducing the word count problems.)
